RAL (Color Space System)
RAL (RAL Classic System) is a color matching system used in Europe, primarily for varnish and powder coatings. Originally a collection of 40 colors under the name “RAL 840,” the color system has continued to expand and is commonly used in the paint industry.
American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
ANSI color standards are nationally recognized and commonly used in the paint industry. ANSI oversees the development of voluntary consensus standards for products, services, processes, systems and personnel in the USA.
Federal 595 Color System
The Federal Standard Color System is issued by the United States General Service Administration for government procurement. It is widely referred to as Fed-STD-595, FS 595, or similar names with the version letter appended.
Pantone (PMS) is a standardized color matching system that utilizes the Pantone Numbering System to identify a broad array of colors. Standardization enables manufactures in different locations to ensure color matching without direct contact with one-another.
Note: Many Pantone® color samples are semi-transparent ink on paper, hence the color of the paper affects the color as viewed. It’s important to have duplicate samples of the color being requested. One remains with the you and the other should be sent to Hentzen for matching.
