MILWAUKEE, WIS. — March, 2011
Hentzen Coatings, Inc., (Hentzen) a leader in aerospace, military, and general industrial protective coatings, has completed a comprehensive expansion and renovation of its Liquid Coatings Research Laboratory in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
This 10,500 square foot research laboratory is charged with the development of new liquid coating technologies for the Defense and General Industrial markets, as well as the production of small-quantity coating batches to meet specialized customer requirements.
Hentzen's state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly laboratory provides forty percent more space, brings together disparate research operations, and houses a broad range of new testing and formulation equipment.
Steve Hentzen, Vice President of Operations at Hentzen Coatings states, “This unique, creative environment for chemists and formulating specialists fosters the development of innovative coatings technologies for years to come.”
The new lab provides a clean and safe environment as well as maximizes the efficiency of the workspaces. Formulator workstations and benches have been separated to improve safety. Laboratory personnel have been given workspace designs that enhance communication. The expansion also allows for secure meeting rooms and increased space for raw material and sample storage, particularly the retention of critical materials in appropriately classified areas.
Mark Lutterbach, Technical Director of the Laboratory, is enthused about how the new Environmental Testing Lab enables Hentzen to bring together all testing machines for increased cleanliness as well as efficient control and operation. Mark declares, “Clients of Hentzen Coatings benefit from improved responsiveness to short-notice and small-quantity requests. What’s more, we’re helping the environment by replacing older, inefficient cure ovens with newer, quieter and more efficient models.”
