Laboratory Technician - R&D Lab (1st Shift) - Milwaukee, WI

LABORATORY TECHNICIAN – R&D

First Shift

One position: 3-5 years of Color Matching Experience

 

The Lab Technician R&D performs small production and lab sample batch-making tasks in the production of industrial coatings products to meet customer specifications in accordance with established Hentzen Coatings health, safety and environmental procedures.

The successful candidates will score well on the color matching and math tests.

 

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Gathers raw materials, assembles batches, shades and performs QC testing
  • Evaluates batches for conformance to specifications
  • Adjusts properties of individual batches within formulation guidelines
  • Performs testing related to product performance
  • Prepares customer samples and panels
  • May be required to perform all aspects of liquid batches of 10 gallons or less, such as dispersion, letdown, color matching, quality control and filling.
  • Maintains records of processes and results
  • Documents and records all actions taken in preparation of product
  • Records batch information in appropriate computer programs
  • Maintains standards for housekeeping and safety
  • As part of the housekeeping procedures, the employee may be involved with the disposal of hazardous waste. The initial training of how to properly dispose of hazardous waste will be performed by the Environmental and Safety Coordinator or the department supervisor. Annual training of the same will be performed by the Environmental and Safety Coordinator.
  • Willing to work various shifts as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school degree or equivalent preferred with college degree strongly preferred
  • Degree, coursework or experience in chemistry along with strong math aptitude
  • Three to five years of experience in a laboratory in an industrial with color matching responsibilities for the more experienced position. Recent college graduates or those with limited experience in the lab setting may qualify for the entry level position
  • Excellent math skills including metric to standard conversions
  • Good computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willing to work in a team environment
  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

The employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles in the lab area. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials. The employee may be exposed to wet, humid conditions (non-weather) and may be working near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.

The noise level in the work environment may be loud while production equipment is running.

Personal Protection Equipment is required during various processes in the production facility. Safety shoes, glasses, dust mask, fire retardant uniform or lab coat, and gloves may be required when performing certain functions.

Maintenance Mechanic (2nd Shift) - Milwaukee, WI

Hentzen Coatings, Inc. an innovative, growth oriented locally owned paint and coatings manufacturer who is committed to our employees and customers invites qualified individuals to apply for the following position:

 

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

SECOND SHIFT 3:00pm – 11:30 pm

ROTATING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAY PLANT CHECKS

First three months will be on FIRST SHIFT for training

 

JOB PURPOSE:

The Maintenance Mechanic performs all-around industrial maintenance work on a variety of systems and pieces of equipment to ensure proper operating functions of machinery in the manufacturing environment.

 

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Ability to provide maintenance and repair on various types of building systems such as plumbing, carpentry, air-conditioning, etc.
  • Ability to repair machines and equipment involving parts replacement and trouble shooting
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment
  • Maintain company property to include work on buildings and grounds including snow removal
  • Ability to understand and comply with all regulations and procedures to minimize risk in work areas in which dangerous fumes or powders exist
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Five years of experience in manufacturing maintenance strongly preferred
  • Understanding of basic shop math
  • Understanding of basic shop tools
  • Forklift certification strongly preferred
  • Computer experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willing to work in a team environment
  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner
  • Willingness to abide by all safety regulations and wear protective equipment as required
